Our University Establishes In-Depth Strategic Cooperation with 

Fuyao University of Science and Technology

On May 7–8, Dr. Yiyan Jianyin, Chairman of the University Board of Trustees, attended a special invitation-only meeting at Fuyao University of Science and Technology with Mr. Cao Dewang, Chairman of the Council of Fuyao University of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Heren Foundation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fuyao Group. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on core topics including international education cooperation, overseas talent recruitment, academic resource sharing, and global education exchanges. They reached a consensus on comprehensive strategic cooperation and formally finalized an all-round, multi-level education cooperation framework.

During the meeting, aligned with the development trend of global higher education and the demand for industrial talent training, both sides held pragmatic exchanges focusing on the international development path of Fuyao University of Science and Technology. Mr. Cao Dewang elaborated on the university’s school-running orientation, disciplinary layout, talent training objectives and future international development plans, emphasizing its commitment to building a world-class application-oriented and research-oriented university with a global vision. Dr. Zhang Fuli, Executive Vice President of Fuyao University of Science and Technology, comprehensively stated that the university is in urgent need of mature international education channels, overseas enrollment systems, high-end academic exchange platforms and academic accreditation support to accelerate the establishment of a global school-running pattern.

Drawing on the university’s years of profound accumulation in international education, Dr. Yiyan Jianyin shared mature experience and advantageous resources in building global enrollment networks, cross-border joint talent training, international academic cooperation, and docking with overseas higher education institutions. He stated that The Asia Pacific School of Business, boasting a cooperative university system covering many countries worldwide and a sophisticated international operation model, is fully capable of undertaking overseas enrollment and promoting academic exchanges for universities. It looks forward to carrying out in-depth bonded cooperation with Fuyao University of Science and Technology.

After full consultations, the two sides formally confirmed the core cooperation content: our university will take full charge of the overall international enrollment program of Fuyao University of Science and Technology, coordinate the establishment of overseas enrollment channels, expand the international student source market, and conduct screening and docking of overseas students to introduce high-quality international student resources to Fuyao University of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, The Asia Pacific School of Business will fully undertake the international academic exchanges, cross-border research collaboration, faculty exchange visits, joint curriculum development, hosting of international academic conferences, academic accreditation and other related work for Fuyao University of Science and Technology, helping it quickly integrate into the international education system and broaden its global academic horizons.

This cooperation marks a strategic synergy between a world-renowned higher education institution and a high-level new-type university. The school-running potential of Fuyao University of Science and Technology is highly complementary to our university’s international education resources and global operation capabilities. It presses the "accelerator button" for the internationalized school-running of Fuyao University of Science and Technology and further expands the international cooperation landscape of The Asia Pacific School of Business. Going forward, both sides will take this meeting as a starting point, accelerate the implementation of cooperation details, steadily advance the execution of programs such as international enrollment and academic exchanges, jointly cultivate high-quality talents with professional competence and global vision, and set a new benchmark for industry-education integration and internationally connected education cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Cao Dewang presented Dr. Yiyan Jianyin with an autographed copy of his autobiography The Bodhi in My Heart as a souvenir. Dr. Yiyan Jianyin expressed that he would uphold Mr. Cao Dewang’s school-running philosophy of "Revere Heaven and Love People, Strive for Perfection", and continuously advance the comprehensive partnership and coordinated development between the two institutions.

Mr.Cao Dewang: "China's No. 1 Philanthropist".

Cao Dewang (Cho Tak Wong), born in May 1946 in Fuqing, Fujian, is the Founder and Lifetime Honorary Chairman of Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co., Ltd., as well as the Founder and Chairman of Fuyao University of Science and Technology. A globally renowned industrialist and philanthropist, he is widely hailed as the “Glass King” and “China’s Top Philanthropist.”

Business Achievements

In 1983, he took over a loss-making township glass factory and turned it around. In 1987, he founded Fuyao Glass, focusing on automotive glass to break foreign monopolies.

Led Fuyao to list on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (1993) and Hong Kong Stock Exchange (2015), making it China’s first listed company in the automotive glass sector.

Defeated anti-dumping cases in Canada and the US (2001–2005), a landmark victory for Chinese enterprises in international trade disputes.

Expanded Fuyao into a global giant with production bases in 12 countries, supplying premium brands like Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota, and Volkswagen. It holds the world’s No.1 market share in automotive glass (≈37%).

Honors & Recognition

2009: First Chinese recipient of the Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

2016: Received the Phoenix Award, the highest honor in the global glass industry, for his contributions to automotive glass manufacturing.

Awarded titles such as “Outstanding Private Entrepreneur of 40 Years of Reform and Opening-Up” and “China’s Poverty Alleviation Donation Award.”

Philanthropy & Education

A dedicated philanthropist with total donations of nearly RMB 26 billion across poverty alleviation, disaster relief, healthcare, and education.

In 2010, he donated 300 million Fuyao shares to establish the Heren Charity Foundation, China’s only national non-public foundation approved by the State Council and funded by financial assets (stocks).

In 2021, he donated RMB 10 billion via the Heren Foundation to found Fuyao University of Science and Technology, aiming to nurture high-end innovative talents for China’s advanced manufacturing.
