Notice on the 2026 Admission Plan of the Joint Graduate School of Traditional Medicine
Relevant Units and Prospective Candidates:
To implement and carry out the talent training strategy for traditional medicine, optimize the training system for high-level traditional medicine talents, and meet the development needs of global traditional medicine undertakings, in accordance with the relevant national policies on graduate education and the development plan of the graduate school, the relevant matters concerning the 2026 admission plan of the Joint Graduate School of Traditional Medicine are hereby notified as follows:
The Joint Graduate School of Traditional Medicine is co-founded by The Asia Pacific School of Business (APSIB) and five universities in Vietnam, namely Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam Trade union University, North River International University, East Capital University, and East City University. It has been approved by Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training and holds the qualification to independently award bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Among them, The Asia Pacific School of Business is an officially registered institution with Singapore's Ministry of Education, holding the EduTrust Certification of Singapore. It has successively obtained membership in international academic organizations such as the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) and the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP). Meanwhile, it has passed authoritative certifications including the international academic quality certification system Quality Matters (QM) and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) of the United States. The academic qualifications and degrees awarded by it can be verified through globally recognized channels such as WES and the Hague Apostille, and are mutually recognized by multiple international organizations including the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) of the United States. Among the cooperative universities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi ranks among the top universities in Vietnam and meets Vietnam's national education quality standards; Vietnam Trade union University is a higher education institution affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and supervised by the Ministry of Education, with profound accumulation in the field of regional education; North River International University, East Capital University, and East City University are all formal higher education institutions in Vietnam, with complete teaching and scientific research systems, jointly providing high-quality resource support for talent training at the Joint Graduate School.
I. General Principles for Admission
This admission adheres to the principles of "enrolling students on demand, comprehensive evaluation, selecting the best candidates for admission, and never compromising on quality". It aims to globally select outstanding talents who love the cause of traditional medicine, have a solid professional foundation, and possess innovative spirit and development potential. Adopting a training model that combines international training standards with localized practice orientation, it cultivates high-level academic and practical innovative specialized talents in traditional medicine.
II. Core Admission Matters
(I) Admission System
A two-semester admission system (spring and autumn) is implemented. The application period for spring admission is from October 1, 2025 to November 15, 2025, and the enrollment time is March 2026; the application period for autumn admission is from March 1, 2026 to April 15, 2026, and the enrollment time is September 2026. The specific application process and eligibility review requirements will be separately published in the Admission Brochure.
(II) Admission Quota
In 2026, it is planned to enroll 300 master's students (including academic master's and professional master's) and 120 doctoral students (including academic doctoral and professional doctoral). The specific admission quota for each major will be dynamically adjusted according to the needs of disciplinary development and the number of applicants, and the final quota will be subject to the announcement in the Admission Brochure.
(III) Training Model
A comprehensive small-class training system will be implemented, with no more than 30 students per master's class and no more than 15 students per doctoral class. Adopting a training model that combines the mentorship system with curriculum learning, dual mentors (including mentors from overseas cooperative institutions) will be assigned to strengthen teacher-student interaction and personalized guidance, ensuring the quality of training.
III. Framework of Teaching Plan
(I) Training Objectives
Guided by traditional medical theories, the goal is to cultivate high-level talents with solid basic theories of traditional medicine, systematic professional knowledge, exquisite clinical skills, and strong scientific research capabilities. Master's students are required to master the core technologies of traditional medical diagnosis and treatment, and have the ability to independently carry out clinical practice or basic research; doctoral students are required to form distinctive advantages in a specific research field of traditional medicine, and have the ability to lead disciplinary development or solve major clinical/scientific research problems.
(II) Academic System
The academic system for master's students is generally 2 years (full-time) and 3 years (part-time); the academic system for doctoral students is generally 3 years (full-time) and 5 years (part-time). Excellent students are encouraged to apply for early graduation, and the specific requirements shall be implemented in accordance with the academic registration management regulations of the graduate school.
(III) Curriculum System
The curriculum system consists of five modules: public basic module, professional basic module, professional core module, practical teaching module, and interdisciplinary elective module. The total credit requirement is no less than 40 credits for master's students and no less than 30 credits for doctoral students.
- Public Basic Module: Covers courses such as Academic English, Research Ethics, and Frontiers of Global Traditional Medicine Development, cultivating students' international perspective and awareness of academicnorms;
- Professional Basic Module: Includes core courses such as Introduction to Traditional Medicine, Chinese Materia Medica, Prescriptions of Traditional Medicine, and Basic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine (or other basic theories of traditional medicine), consolidating students' professional foundation;
- Professional Core Module: Set according to research directions, such as Clinical Chinese Materia Medica, Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment of Traditional Medicine, Chinese Medicinal Chemistry, and Research on Traditional Medical Literature, strengthening professional characteristic capabilities;
- Practical Teaching Module: Accounts for more than 30% of the total credits, including links such as clinical internship, scientific research practice, overseas exchange (optional), and social services. Among them, the clinical internship for master's students is no less than 12 months, and the clinical internship or scientific research practice for doctoral students is no less than 18 months;
- Interdisciplinary Elective Module: Offers courses such as Basic Modern Medicine, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Medical Statistics, and Artificial Intelligence and Traditional Medicine, expanding students' knowledge boundaries.
(IV) Assessment and Evaluation
A full-process assessment system will be established, including links such as curriculum assessment, mid-term assessment, practical assessment, and dissertation defense. The curriculum assessment adopts a combination of examinations and assessments; the mid-term assessment focuses on evaluating students' comprehensive capabilities and the achievement of training objectives, and those who fail will have their training plans adjusted or their training terminated; the dissertation defense must strictly follow academic norms, and only those who pass the defense can obtain the corresponding degree.
(V) Characteristic Training Measures
1. International Training: Carry out joint training with overseas traditional medical colleges and universities, establish overseas internship bases, and support students to participate in international academic exchanges and cooperative research;
2. Industry-University-Research Integration: Jointly establish practical teaching bases with medical institutions and traditional Chinese medicine enterprises, promoting the transformation of scientific research achievements and the combination of clinical application;
3. Personalized Development: Customize training plans according to students' interests and career plans, and support them to participate in major scientific research projects or clinical special research.
IV. Other Matters
1. This admission work will strictly abide by national graduate admission policies, implement the requirement of information disclosure, and key information such as the admission process and assessment results will be promptly announced on the official website of the graduate school;
2. Candidates must apply honestly, consciously abide by the admission management regulations, and those who practice fraud will have their application or admission qualifications revoked;
